BYD opens Denza Z9S pre-orders, claiming the ‘world’s longest’ EV range at 1,100 km

- Denza opened pre-orders for the Z9S in China on Monday, claiming a CLTC range of 1,100 km (683 mi) — what it calls "the world's longest pure electric range" of any mass-produced EV.
- The Z9S is offered in three variants with CLTC ranges of 780 km, 920 km, and 1,100 km, priced from 319,800 yuan ($47,300) to 389,900 yuan ($57,700) for the tri-motor Performance version.
- All variants use BYD's 102.3 kWh Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging technology, with the company claiming a 10% to 70% recharge in as little as 5 minutes and a 10% to 97% charge in 9 minutes.
- The sedan comes in single-motor (370 kW / 496 hp) and tri-motor (890 kW / 1,200 hp) configurations and measures 5,090 mm long on a 3,025 mm wheelbase, slightly smaller than the Z9 GT.
- The Z9S is the latest in Denza's expanding lineup, which includes the Z9 GT (now in Europe and China) and the Denza Z electric hypercar unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.
Why it matters: If the 1,100 km range claim holds in real-world testing, it would outpace the 1,036 km BYD itself touted for the Z9 GT earlier this year and every other production EV on sale. At under $48,000 to start, the Z9S also prices below European luxury flagships like the Mercedes EQS while offering tri-motor output rivaling supercars.
