- Mercedes-AMG unveiled the CLA 45 4MATIC+ at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with rising Formula 1 star Kimi Antonelli driving the car during its debut
- CLA 45 4MATIC+ delivers 500 kW (680 hp) and 1,759 Nm of torque via three axial-flux electric motors — one on the front axle and two on the rear
- CLA 45 4MATIC+ accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 2.7 seconds (with one-foot rollout) and reaches an electronically limited 155 mph, or 167 mph with the optional AMG Dynamic Plus Package
- CLA 45 4MATIC+ supports 330 kW charging on its 800-volt architecture, recovering 10–80% battery charge in 22 minutes and adding over 270 km of range in 10 minutes
- CLA 45 4MATIC+ achieves up to 670 km of WLTP range from a 94 kWh lithium-ion battery, aided by aerodynamic efficiency and an active rear spoiler that adjusts for drag or stability
- Mercedes equipped the CLA 45 with an adjustable suspension, enhanced brakes, and active radiator fins that stay closed at speeds up to nearly 250 km/h to reduce drag when cooling demand is low
Why it matters: The CLA 45 packs supercar-rivaling performance and rapid charging into a compact form, challenging rivals in both EV dynamics and thermal efficiency. With 680 hp and 330 kW charging, it sets a new benchmark for high-performance electric compacts, making AMG’s entry into hot hatch territory materially faster and more practical than expected.
