BYD undercuts luxury rivals with its first 7-seat premium MPV in the UK

- BYD priced the Denza D9 from £75,000 ($101,000) for the Elegance trim and £85,000 ($115,000) for the Ultimate, positioning it as the brand's fourth UK model after the Bao 5 SUV, Z9 GT, and Z.
- The Denza D9 pairs two electric motors (227 hp front, 60 hp rear) with a 1.5-liter turbo engine acting mainly as a generator, drawing from a 58.5 kWh battery for 130 miles of pure-electric range and up to 590 miles total.
- BYD's Flash Charging tech recharges the D9 from 10% to 70% in five minutes and 10% to 97% in nine minutes, with the company claiming a 10%-to-97% charge in 12 minutes even at -30°C.
- The Ultimate trim adds zero-gravity seats with 14-way adjustment, 16-point massage, and a 152-degree recline, plus a 12-inch head-up display, 10.25-inch passenger screen, and dual 12.8-inch rear entertainment displays.
- Denza D9 offers a 7-seat layout with 430-570 liters of boot space, expanding to 2,310 liters in four-seat mode, and runs a 15.6-inch infotainment screen with Google built-in.
- The D9 undercuts the Lexus LM hybrid, which starts at £97,645 ($131,500) in the UK, by more than £22,000.
