- Specialized launched the Vado 3 X roughly a month after unveiling the original Vado 3 and Vado 3 EVO, adding a full-suspension option to the urban e-bike family
- The Vado 3 X features 120mm of rear suspension travel paired with a 130mm front fork, upgrading from the Vado 3 EVO's hardtail frame and 120mm fork
- Specialized kept the 3.1 motor system from the rest of the Vado 3 lineup, rated at up to 810W of peak power and 105 Nm of torque and derived from the Levo electric mountain bike platform
- The bike retains the 840 Wh battery pack with up to five hours of claimed range, plus an optional 280 Wh range extender for longer rides
- The Vado 3 X comes equipped with a 2.2-inch MasterMind C4 touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple FindMy tracking, 805-lumen integrated lights, and a digital Abus wheel lock
- Specialized maintained utility features including a rear rack rated for 27 kg (about 60 lb) and compatibility with trailers and child seats
- Pricing for the Vado 3 X starts at approximately $5,500 for the 4.0 build and reaches roughly $8,000 for the higher-spec 6.0
Why it matters: At $5,500 to $8,000, the Vado 3 X is a bet that commuters will pay a premium for one bike that handles weekday city duty and weekend gravel — shrinking the addressable buyer pool but deepening margins per unit. The Levo-derived 810W powertrain in a commuter shell blurs the line between categories, giving riders e-MTB capability without stepping up to a full mountain bike.
