- Ferrari unveiled the CZ26 one-off at Monterey Car Week, built through its Special Projects program by the Ferrari Design Studio under Flavio Manzoni for a US client in a roughly two-year design-to-delivery process.
- CZ26 retains the SF90 Stradale's full powertrain intact: a 3,990 cc twin-turbo V8 producing 797 cv, 162 kW electric motors, a 7.9 kWh battery, 25 km of electric range, a 328 km/h top speed, and 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds.
- CZ26 emissions come in at 154 g/km on the WLTP cycle with a 68-liter fuel tank, per Ferrari's official spec table.
- Ferrari applied the Luce's design language to the CZ26 — full-width functional grille, ultra-slim lighting hidden for a concealed effect, integrated sensors and brake ducts, and blacked-out roof and pillars to make the cabin read as a floating capsule.
- The CZ26 adds bespoke bodywork including a two-box silhouette, truncated tail with cantilevered taillights, redesigned front cooling with bypass ducts, air curtains, new rear spoiler and diffuser, and a silver Argento Veloce paint with a liquid finish.
- The Luce drew sharp backlash after its May Rome reveal, with former Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo telling Italian media to "at least take the prancing horse off" and Ferrari stock dropping as much as 8% in the days that followed.
- Ferrari sold the entire ~500-unit 2026 Luce allocation at €550,000 (~$640,000) in under two months, and CEO Benedetto Vigna said orders kept coming despite the criticism.
Why it matters: Ferrari is reusing the Luce's design language — the look that triggered an 8% stock drop and a public rebuke from former chairman di Montezemolo — on an SF90-based one-off for a paying US client, signaling the aesthetic isn't being shelved. The company already validated demand by selling out ~500 Luce allocations at €550,000 in under two months despite the backlash.
