BYD cuts Denza Z9 GT EV prices with the new e3 Premium trim, starting at about $50,000 — SkimNews

- Denza launched the Z9 GT e3 Flash Charge Premium Edition on Wednesday at 329,800 yuan (~$49,000) in China, about 40,000 yuan (~$6,000) below the Performance version.
- The Premium trim uses BYD's e3 platform with three motors — 230 kW front plus two 310 kW rears — delivering 770 kW (1,032 hp) and 1,210 Nm of torque, with a 2.8-second 0-100 km/h time (0.1 seconds behind the Performance).
- A 122.5 kWh BYD Blade Battery 2.0 gives the Premium up to 860 km of CLTC range — 40 km more than the Performance — and supports Flash Charging from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes (full 10–97% charge in 9 minutes).
- Cost-saving swaps between the Performance and Premium include cast-iron brake discs (replacing carbon-ceramic) and different wheels; the Premium retains God's Eye 5.0 driving assistance and DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension as standard.
- Denza GM Li Hui confirmed the "lightweight" variant earlier this week and said the Z9 GT has been China's top-selling luxury GT for several consecutive months since its earlier-2025 launch.
- BYD already sells the Denza Z9 GT in Europe from €115,000 in Germany and in the UK from £95,000 (PHEV) or £105,000 (EV), but has not confirmed whether the new Premium trim will be offered overseas.
Why it matters: BYD lops $6,000 off China's current luxury-GT sales leader without thinning the powertrain — the Premium retains the tri-motor 1,032 hp setup and actually extends CLTC range by 40 km, trading only brake discs and wheels. For legacy European luxury EV rivals already losing ground in China, the move raises the floor on a halo product's accessibility while keeping the flagship specs a step above.
