- Noah Wyle is expanding Last Call Productions under his multi-year Warner Bros. Television overall deal, hiring Jeremy Gold as Head of Development and Production to run day-to-day operations.
- Last Call is being built into a full-fledged pod that will produce series for HBO/HBO Max and outside platforms, with Wyle retaining hands-on creative involvement including writing, producing, and directing pilots on projects he doesn't act in.
- Gold joins after eight years at Blumhouse Television (where he ran his own Gold Company banner and exec-produced Prime Video's Scarpetta) and earlier stints as SVP Comedy at Fox and VP Comedy at 20th Century Fox Television.
- Gold's development resume spans Arrested Development, The Bernie Mac Show, American Dad, and The Simple Life in comedy, plus Sharp Objects, The Good Lord Bird, and The Purge at Blumhouse in drama.
- Wyle and Gold both attended Northwestern University, both started in theater, and Gold worked for Wyle's uncle Sandy Speer at The Actors Theatre in Louisville roughly 20 years ago.
- Wyle won two Emmys last year for The Pitt (Lead Actor and Outstanding Drama Series) and is nominated again this year in both categories plus Directing for a Drama Series.
- The new company plans to be budget-agnostic, with Wyle pointing to The Pitt's model of 15-episode seasons on a modest budget as replicable and expressing interest in keeping production in Los Angeles.
