- Hyundai is launching two new electric SUVs — the IONIQ 4 (a B-segment SUV positioned below the IONIQ 5) and the IONIQ 7 (a family model between the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9) — to close gaps in its EV lineup.
- IONIQ 4 is tipped to offer 42 kWh and 61 kWh battery options delivering up to 214 miles and 308 miles of WLTP range, with a UK starting price around £25,000 ($33,000).
- IONIQ 7 is set to offer two- or three-row seating, single- and dual-motor powertrains, 800V fast-charging architecture, and at least 400 miles of WLTP range, priced at £45,000–£50,000 ($60,000–$66,000) in the UK.
- Chris McKinnon, Hyundai Europe's VP of product, told Auto Express to "watch this space" for the B-segment SUV and declined to compare it directly with the Kia EV3, calling the segment "important" for the brand.
- Kona Electric is expected to be discontinued in the UK, with the IONIQ 4 positioned to replace it.
- IONIQ 4 and IONIQ 7 are likely designed primarily for the European market, and US availability has not been announced; both are expected to launch within the next 12–18 months.
Why it matters: Hyundai is filling the B-segment and mid-size gaps in its EV lineup with priced models — £25,000 ($33,000) for the IONIQ 4 and £45,000 ($60,000) for the IONIQ 7 — giving European buyers new options below and above the existing IONIQ 5.
