- Hyundai unveiled the 2027 IONIQ 9 Calligraphy Black Ink edition at its Metaplant America in Savannah, Georgia, calling it the brand's most luxurious electric SUV to date
- The Black Ink is offered exclusively in Abyss Black Pearl with a black chrome skid plate, gloss black roof rails, and 21" Turbine Design alloy wheels, with a fully blacked-out interior
- Built on the IONIQ 9 Performance trim, it pairs a 422-hp AWD powertrain (516 lb-ft of torque) with a 110.3 kWh battery and 800V architecture, delivering 311 miles of range and 10-80% DC fast charging in about 24 minutes
- Premium features include a 10" head-up display, 14-speaker Bose audio, panoramic sunroof, digital full-display rearview mirror, first- and second-row relaxation seats with power recline, and heated third-row seats
- The NACS charging port lets the Black Ink recharge at Tesla Superchargers, consistent with the rest of the IONIQ 9 lineup
- Pricing hasn't been revealed, but Hyundai confirmed the Black Ink will exceed the current top-trim Calligraphy Design, which starts at $76,490
- Assembly takes place at Hyundai's Georgia Metaplant, with dealership availability this summer
Why it matters: Hyundai's new Black Ink edition sits above the $76,490 Calligraphy Design trim, giving premium three-row EV shoppers a blackout-styled alternative with 422 hp, 311 miles of range, and Tesla Supercharger access. Domestic assembly at the Georgia Metaplant also positions the model within US EV tax credit eligibility rules, which Hyundai hasn't yet addressed.
