Robert Pattinson ‘Primetime’ Pic From A24 Sets Early Fall Theatrical Release

- Primetime, the A24 film starring and produced by Robert Pattinson, will debut in theaters nationwide on Sept. 25, shortly after landing on the Venice Film Festival lineup.
- Lance Oppenheim directs the film, which dramatizes NBC Dateline correspondent Chris Hansen's 2006 efforts to make TV history with the To Catch a Predator sting series.
- Ajon Singh wrote the screenplay, and the cast also features Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and musician Phoebe Bridgers in supporting roles.

- The Sept. 25 wide-release frame is crowded: Paramount's Heart of the Beast (Brad Pitt), Disney/Marvel's Avengers: Endgame Encore, DreamWorks Animation's Forgotten Island, Bleecker Street's Victorian Psycho, and Roadside Attractions' Crawlers all open the same day.
Why it matters: Pattinson lands a second consecutive Venice run with Primetime, giving A24 a prestige title aimed at awards-season momentum before the wide Sept. 25 bow. The dramatic recreation of Hansen's 2006 sting also puts a controversial media figure back into cultural conversation, this time through a documentary filmmaker's lens rather than live ambush TV.
