- Hyundai is launching the IONIQ 7, a three-row family SUV positioned between the IONIQ 5 and the flagship IONIQ 9, alongside a smaller IONIQ 4
- The IONIQ 7 targets a WLTP range of at least 400 miles using an 800V architecture shared with the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9 for fast charging
- The IONIQ 7 will measure slightly longer than the IONIQ 5 (183.3 inches) with a more traditional boxy SUV profile, offering two- and three-row seating and single- or dual-motor powertrains
- Hyundai is also adding the IONIQ 4, a B-segment SUV and Kia EV3 twin positioned between the IONIQ 3 and IONIQ 5, expected to start around £25,000 ($33,000) in the UK
- The IONIQ 7 likely prices at $40,000 to $45,000 in the US, compared to the 2027 IONIQ 5's $35,250 starting price
- Both vehicles are due within 12-18 months with Hyundai's new Pleos Connect infotainment system, though US buyers will likely miss the IONIQ 4
Why it matters: Hyundai's IONIQ 7 fills a gap for buyers wanting a mid-size family EV between the compact IONIQ 5 and the full-size IONIQ 9, with a 400-mile WLTP range and 800V fast charging matching premium-class specs. Meanwhile, the £25,000 IONIQ 4 brings an affordable European option, though US shoppers are likely cut out of that deal.
