- BYD confirmed the Great Han (DaHan) flagship sedan will deliver a CLTC range of 1,008 km (626 miles) on a single charge, ahead of its official premiere at the Chengdu Motor Show running August 21–30, 2026.
- The Great Han will use BYD's Blade Battery 2.0 with Flash Charging technology at 1,500 kW, enabling a 10% to 70% recharge in 5 minutes and a 10% to 97% full recharge in just 9 minutes.
- Measuring 5,256 mm long with a 3,130 mm wheelbase, the sedan is larger than the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air, and closer in size to the long-wheelbase Mercedes S-Class.
- BYD will offer the Great Han in single rear-motor (370 kW / 496 hp) and dual-motor AWD (570 kW / 764 hp) configurations.
- Lu Tian, general manager of BYD's Dynasty series, released new exterior images and teased that "more surprises await" at the Chengdu Motor Show debut.
- As the sedan sibling to the Great Tang SUV — which notched over 100,000 preorders at presale prices starting at 250,000 yuan ($37,000) and surpassed 10,000 customer deliveries last week — the Great Han is expected to price similarly or slightly lower.
Why it matters: BYD is stacking its new full-size sedan against the Tesla Model S, Lucid Air, and Mercedes S-Class on size and range while pricing near the $37,000 mark set by its Great Tang SUV sibling. The 1,008 km range and 9-minute 10-to-97% charge claim, if validated in real-world use, would set a benchmark that Western and legacy luxury EV makers currently cannot match on either dimension.
