- BYD launched the second-generation Seal 07 in China on Thursday, after updating the first generation in March, offering three EV and two PHEV variants. List prices start at 149,900 yuan (about $22,500) for the EV and 139,900 yuan (about $21,000) for the PHEV; a limited-time trade-in promotion lowers those to 145,900 yuan ($22,000) and 135,900 yuan ($20,500).
- Seal 07 EV uses a 76.7 kWh second-generation BYD Blade LFP battery for up to 481 miles (775 km) of CLTC range, while a standard rear-mounted motor delivers 328 hp, 269 lb-ft of torque and a 0-62 mph time of 5.5 seconds.
- Seal 07 PHEV pairs a 37 kWh battery with up to 205 miles (330 km) of pure-electric CLTC range, up from the previous generation’s 143 miles (230 km), and uses the latest DM-i system with a 154 hp 1.5L turbo engine and 214 hp front electric motor.
- Flash Charging, paired with Blade Battery 2.0, lets both Seal 07 versions recharge from 10% to 70% in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.
- Toyota Camry serves as the size benchmark: the Seal 07 is 5,080 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and 1,495 mm tall on a 2,960 mm wheelbase, slightly bigger overall. Its cabin includes a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, 10.25-inch cluster, rear entertainment screens, a 6.8L smart refrigerator, zero-gravity seats and headrest audio; BYD claims a class-leading 160L frunk.
- God's Eye B is offered on higher-priced Seal 07 models, with an optional roof-mounted LiDAR, Navigation on Autopilot for city and highway driving, and full-scenario intelligent parking.
- Diva debuts with Smart Ecosystem 2.0 as a smartwatch that interacts with the Seal 07 and lets drivers manage vehicle functions remotely.
Why it matters: BYD’s limited-time 135,900-145,900 yuan promotion packs 10%-to-70% charging in five minutes, up to 205 miles of electric-only PHEV range and premium cabin equipment into $22,000-or-less versions. For shoppers using the Toyota Camry as a size benchmark, the strongest case is faster replenishment and a PHEV range increase from 143 to 205 miles, not merely a higher-tech cabin.
