- Kia opened orders for the EV2 Long Range, which uses a 61 kWh battery delivering up to 281 miles (453 km) of WLTP range, available in Air, GT-Line, and Black-Line trims.
- German pricing starts at €33,490 ($38,300) for the Air, €36,890 ($42,200) for the GT-Line, and €40,890 ($46,800) for the Black-Line.
- UK pricing begins at £27,995 ($37,700) for the Air, £32,745 ($44,100) for the GT-Line, and £36,345 ($49,000) for the GT-Line S, before any government incentives.
- The 61 kWh Long Range variant runs a slightly detuned 135 hp front motor versus the 144 hp unit in the 42.2 kWh standard-range model, a trade-off Kia made to maximize efficiency.
- During the NAF Summer El Prix EV test, the standard-range EV2 covered 325 km (201 miles) on a single charge, beating its WLTP rating of 308 km (191 miles).
- A long-range GT-Line prototype logged 428 km (265 miles) in the same event, hitting 102% of its expected WLTP combined range figure.
- Kia began producing the 42.2 kWh EV2 in Slovakia in April, with the 61 kWh Long Range and GT-Line scheduled to enter production in June 2026.
Why it matters: Kia's EV2 is the brand's smallest and most affordable pure-electric vehicle, and the new 61 kWh Long Range variant nearly closes the gap to rivals offering sub-£30,000 EVs with 250+ miles of real-world range. UK buyers get a sub-£28,000 entry point even without the £1,500 Electric Car Grant, while the GT-Line and Black-Line trims give Kia room to push average transaction prices above £32,000.
