Why it matters: The vaccine sidesteps the immune-tolerance barrier that has stalled prior sperm-protein contraceptive attempts by targeting a protein females already recognize as foreign. With 59–67% fertility reduction demonstrated and a three-year horse trial underway, wildlife managers could gain a long-lasting tool for feral horse, deer, and swine overpopulation.
