- Hyundai opened European orders for the Staria Electric van, with Germany's base Trend 9-seater priced at €57,450 (~$66,500) and leases from €489/month, after launching in Korea earlier this year.
- The Staria Electric measures 5,253 mm long—roughly 200 mm longer than the IONIQ 9—and offers 7- and 9-seat layouts with up to 1,303 liters of luggage space plus a 24-liter frunk.
- An 84 kWh battery paired with a 160 kW front motor delivers up to 430 km (267 miles) of WLTP range, while the 800V architecture enables a 10–80% charge in about 20 minutes at a 350 kW DC fast charger.
- Vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality lets owners run external electronics like coffee makers or campsite gear directly from the van.
- Three trim levels are available: Trend 9-seater (€57,450), Prime 9-seater (€63,350/$73,500) with electric sliding doors and Highway Assistant 1.5, and Calligraphy 7-seater (€66,950/$77,800) with Nappa leather and reclining second-row seats.
- Hyundai simultaneously opened orders for the IONIQ 3 compact EV starting at €28,950 (~$33,000), but neither the Staria Electric nor IONIQ 3 is planned for the US market.
Why it matters: Hyundai is filling a niche larger than the Kia PV5 and VW ID. Buzz with a true 9-seat electric people-mover, giving European families and shuttle operators an EV option the market largely lacks. At ~$66,500 with 267 miles of range and 20-minute fast-charging, it undercuts premium alternatives, though US buyers are locked out as Hyundai offers only the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9 stateside.
